As often happens in some games, although in general the communities mostly have players who play fair, there are several who end up succumbing and being tempted to take advantage of a bug. This is what has happened with the new expansion for World of Warcraft Classic, Wrath of the Lich King, which brought with it new game options that players were eager to try. However, some players exploited a vulnerability in the Death Knight class to create bots and illegally obtain resources.
This is how this activity did not go unnoticed by Blizzard, who took action against players who took advantage of the exploit and according to a statement posted on the WoW forums, almost 120,000 malicious accounts have been removed in recent weeks, including those of Wrath of the Lich King Classic and Classic Era.

“Over the past few weeks, we have taken action that has removed nearly 120,000 malicious accounts from the World of Warcraft ecosystem, including Wrath of the Lich King Classic and Classic Era. This is in addition to our regular and ongoing ban waves, which often include actions against tens of thousands of accounts per week,” Blizzard said.
Something that is beneficial for the entire community since as you know, the use of bots and other forms of cheating in online games is not only illegal, but it can also ruin the gaming experience for other players. The best example of that is the good reception of the mass ban among players, who see this measure as a “direct nerf to the botters”. As reported by the company in a statement on the WoW forums.
