Boaz Solossa’s Reaction After Persipura Jayapura Degradation

Persipura Jayapura will certainly not be in League 1 next season. Mutiara Hitam was relegated after 28 years of playing in the country’s top caste competition.

The three-goal victory over Persita Tangerang in the last match of Liga 1 could not save Persipura. Alfredo Vera’s squad will continue to drop into League 2 next season.

Persipura was relegated because Barito Putera drew 1-1 with Persib Bandung. Despite collecting similar points of 36, Laskar Antasari remained in Liga 1 because they were superior to head to head with the Papuan club.

The situation experienced by Persipura made Boaz Solossa sad. He did not expect the first professional club he defended to play in the second tier football competition next season.

“Out of words. Thank you to all your players for fighting for Papuan families and people,” wrote Boaz in his Instagram Story account, which included a sad emoticon.

“Lord Jesus will count your toil and sweat. Brother, dear and love you all to death,” continued the 36-year-old player’s writing.

Boaz is no longer a Persipura player after being released in July 2021 due to repeated disciplinary actions. He then joined Borneo FC for Liga 1 this season.

Nevertheless, Boaz is still considered a Persipura legend. He helped the club win the Indonesian League title four times, namely 2005, 2008/09, 2010/11 and 2013.

In Liga 1 2021/22, Boaz made 22 appearances for Borneo FC. From that number of appearances he scored three goals and one assist.
