Bombers kill the ex-prime minister in Pakistan

Bombers killed more than 130 people in campaign rallies in Pakistan on Friday before ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif was arrested for his return from exile for corruption. The atmosphere was already tense before the July 25 election, which was seen as a showdown between Sharif's party and the increasingly popular nationalist party of cricket star Imran Khan. Most of the dead, 128 recently, were at a rally in the southwestern province of Balochistan-the deadliest attack in four years-that militant Islamists had demanded.
