Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain saved the excitement of the second half of their first leg of the round of 16 in the Champions League. The recently acquired Erling Haaland was Dortmund’s hero when the German team beat PSG 2-1 at home on Tuesday. The three goals, two from Haaland and one from PSG superstar Neymar, arrived within nine minutes in the second half.
Haaland, the 19-year-old Norwegian sensation, opened the scoring in the 69th minute after catching a deflected shot by a team mate and turning it into a goal.

The shot too made history. Haaland became the first player to score a goal for two different teams in the same season of the Champions League. Of course, it helps that this is the first year that a player who arrives during the winter transfer period can participate in the Champions League matches for his new team. Haaland scored eight goals during the Champions League group game this season for his former club, Red Bull Salzburg.
Another part of Dortmund’s story came with the replacement of Gio Reyna, who became the youngest American to play in European competition.
However, the PSG did not stay low for a long time. Dortmund’s bad defense allowed Kylian Mbappe and Neymar’s star duet to pick up an equalizer shortly after Haaland’s goal.
Neymar’s equalizer did not disturb Halaand and Dortmund. A powerful charge towards the goal resulted in another goal for Haaland, this time from a powerful explosion out of the box for one of the best hits of the UCL season.
The PSG closest to a late draw was an attempt by Neymar in the discount time, but the French team could not take advantage. These two teams will meet again on March 11 with a place in the quarterfinals on the line.
