Europa Conference League Kval
The Ukrainian message from yesterday, Tuesday, has been confirmed.
On its website, AIK writes that both European qualifiers with Vorskla Poltava are played in Sweden.
Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it has been unclear where AIK’s away match in the European Conference League qualifiers’ second round, against Ukrainian Vorskla Poltava, will be played. Yesterday, Tuesday, the Ukrainian federation announced that Poltava’s home fight will take place in Sweden and Stockholm.
Now AIK confirms that this will also be the case.
– I am very happy that together we could land in this solution, which UEFA also saw as the idea that creates the best sporting conditions for all parties, says AIK CEO Manuel Lindberg in a comment on the club’s website.
As Friends Arena is booked due to the world artist Lady Gaga’s concert on July 21, the first meeting between the teams will be played instead at Tele2 Arena. Then “Gnaget” is an away team. Just over a week later, on Wednesday 27 July, the return will be played at Friends Arena. Then AIK is the home team.
It is a matter of fact that the return meeting between AIK and Vorskla Poltava was intended to be played on Thursday 28 July. But then Djurgården plays against Rijeka at Tele2 Arena in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. As a result, AIK will play on 27 July.
