Eddie Howe's side dominated the opening phase, righting England's hopeful Callum Wilson after eleven minutes.
But United remained under pressure and equalized as Martial pulled back from Alexis Sanchez after 35 minutes.

The result leaves both clubs on points in the Premier League table.
The pre-match conversation focused on the absence of Romelu Lukaku, with Mourinho cryptically pointing out that the striker had been left in Manchester for injury.
It was also noted that United's midfielder Nemanja Matic wore no poppy on his salmon-colored stripe like the rest of his teammates.
Mourinho's career at United began in 2016 with a 3-1 victory at Bournemouth, but he must have feared the worst when Bournemouth opted early for the jugular.

This time it was Sanchez who started the game in the middle and stepped on the plate. The Chilean won the ball on the center line and then sprinted into the penalty area to receive Ashley Young's back pass.
Sanchez was at an acute angle and was about to withdraw the ball for Martial, who put his foot in the box to move past Asmir Begovic.
Remarkably, the Frenchman has not scored since his last run.
Fraser made the marginal remark when Bournemouth tried to respond, but you could tell that some of the stuff was knocked out of Eddie Howe's side, with the amount noticeably quieter.

The changes improved and United almost went to the top when Young won and then took the free-kick that beat Begovic's crossbar.
The rebound fell on Rashford, but the ball bounced off his chest and his strike was blocked by the pit of Akes stomach. Pogba could have given up the loose ball, but this time Brook had run to the goal line to hack.
Ander Herrera shot past a nice tee of Pogba just past the edge of the box.
Bournemouth had one last hurray, Brooks could not beat De Gea from 12 yards, but after 90 minutes a draw was probably the fair result, although United fans will ask why they start so slowly.
