the essentials in brief
- A two-year-old boy dies of starvation in an apartment in Geneva, New York.
- Before that, his father died of a heart attack.
- The authorities classified the death as an accident.
On February 15, authorities found a father and his two-year-old son dead during a social check. David Conde and David Conde Jr. were in an apartment in Geneva, New York, 55 miles southwest of Syracuse.
Now the cause of death of the two has been determined: the father died of cardiovascular disease, as reported by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department. Then his son starved to death. His death is classified as an accident.
After the 59-year-old had no contact for a week, the social check was carried out. They found him and the two-year-old behind closed doors.
“No sign of struggle”
The apartment was fairly neat and tidy – food and clothing available. The two were last seen in the apartment on January 22nd.
Ontario County Sheriff’s Lieutenant David Cirencione said: “There was no sign of a struggle at the home. We have no reason to believe anyone was still in the home when they died.”
Conde died first, after which his son could not find food. That’s what the police assume. The investigation into the deaths has thus been completed.
