BPOL NRW: cutting fruit in the main train station - federal police present 19-year-olds with knives

Essen – Mülheim an der Ruhr (ots)

Tonight (August 11) federal police stopped a young man in Essen. The man was carrying a knife. The probable reason was curious. At around 2 a.m., a federal police patrol checked a 19-year-old in Essen’s main train station. The man from Mülheim an der Ruhr was asked about prohibited or dangerous objects. He reluctantly admitted that he was carrying a knife. The Syrian citizen handed the emergency services a knife with a fixed blade of approximately 12 cm.

He explained that he wanted to cut fruit with the knife in the station. However, the officials could not find any variations of fruit either in or in front of the station or in the man’s possessions.

The federal police officers seized the knife and initiated investigations into violations of the Weapons Act.
