Brie recalled because of Listeria

The agency for health and food security (AGES) informs about the recall of the French Brie “Explorateur”. Some batches of the product may be contaminated with Listeria. These bacteria can cause serious illnesses.

Affected is the product “Explorateur 250g 75% F.i.T.” of the French manufacturer Fromagère de la Brie with the best before date 19.04.2018 and 26.04.2018. Lot numbers are: Lot N ° 77432-H045 and Lot: N ° 77432-H057. Danger to children, pregnant women and the elderly Listeria may be included in these products, according to the manufacturer. These bacteria are the causative agents of listeriosis, a rare, primarily food-borne disease. Infants, pregnant women, diabetics and people with weakened immune systems, such as newly-operated, AIDS or cancer patients, are especially at risk. If symptoms occur, urgent medical attention should be sought, according to the AGES. In 2015, there were 2,200 Listeria infections in the EU and 270 died. Listeria can even multiply in the refrigerator due to its unusual ability to grow even at low temperatures. Link:
