At the next summer reading of the Herdern Civic Association on the Herdermer Kirchplatz on Thursday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m., the translator Marie Alpermann will read from the award-winning novel “Körper-Kintsugi” by the Bosnian author Senka Maric, which she translated. In conversation with Astrid Ogbeiwi, Marie Alpermann will also report on her work as a discoverer and promoter of Southeast European literature. Admission free, donation welcome. Mo Asumang

The sixth “Weingarten Talk” on Thursday, June 30, 7:30 p.m., in the Adolf Reichwein Education Center, Bugginger Straße 83, has the topic “How to counteract everyday racism?”. The author and filmmaker Mo Asumang and Tomas Wald from the Roma office in Freiburg will be discussing. Admission is free, donations are welcome. Registration requested by email [email protected].

Local council meets

The next public meeting of the Munzingen local council will take place on Wednesday, June 29, from 7.30 p.m. – now again in the town hall of the town hall, Romanstraße 3, instead of in the Schlossbuckhalle. On the agenda are, among other things, the day-care center requirements planning, the topic “secondary school on the Tuniberg”, the citizens’ vote of the Erdwärme-Breisgau Citizens’ Council and advice on building applications.

Jewish history

A reading from the diaries of the Dutch-Jewish intellectual Etty Hillesum with musical accompaniment will take place on Wednesday, June 29, at 7 p.m. in the University Church of Freiburg, Bertoldstraße 17, entitled “The Thinking Heart”. Theater director Ingeborg Waldherr will read, accompanied by cellist Dimitris Pekas.
