On Monday, British health workers go on the biggest strike of all time. The authorities are not presenting themselves as counterparties, the trade unions claim.
Thousands of nurses and ambulance workers are taking to the streets in what will be the biggest UK health strike in history. The nurses will continue their strike on Tuesday, while the ambulance workers will pick it up again on Friday.
Union leader Sharon Graham says that no counterparty is to be fired.
– We have no talks at any level with the government about pay, and we see that as a pure disclaimer of responsibility, she tells the BBC.
She criticizes Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Health Minister Steve Barclay for not getting on the pitch at all.
