HOUSTON (AP) – Coby White scored 24 points and the Chicago Bulls used a great third period to extend their lead and beat a decimated Houston Rockets 120-100 on Monday night.
Zach LaVine scored 14 of Chicago’s 46 points in the third quarter and finished with 21. The Bulls outscored the Rockets by 20 points in this period to widen the gap in a game that had remained close to that point.
Chicago had runs of 15-4 and 12-0 in this quarter. In the second in a row, Houston missed four shots, two were balls in the air and leading to scores for the Bulls.
David Nwaba had 22 points as a substitute to lead Houston, which has lost eight games in a row. The Rockets’ last two games had been called off due to the winter storm and subsequent power outages in the Houston area.
The Rockets haven’t had center Christian Wood since Feb. 5 and DeMarcus Cousins, who had been filling in for him, was out Monday with a sore right heel. Victor Oladipo is still out with a strain on his right foot.
Wendell Carter Jr. added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulls, who have won four of five games.
