Bundesliga: Maxence Lacroix stays with VfL Wolfsburg

The central defender Maxence Lacroix, courted by runner-up RB Leipzig, will continue to wear the jersey of league rivals VfL Wolfsburg for the time being. The club announced this week.

“He stays here, the matter has been decided,” said sports director Jörg Schmadtke on the outskirts of the Lower Saxony training camp in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria.

The Saxons had allegedly offered 20 million euros for the 21-year-old Frenchman. Lacroix still has a contract with the North Germans until 2024. In addition, the Saxons signed two young central defenders this summer, Mohamed Simakan and Josko Gvardiol.
