-

Canberra – The high temperatures and strong wind continue to make it difficult for firefighters in the fire areas of Australia. At the borders of the two states of New South Wales and Victoria, three fires merged into a "mega-fire" that covered an area of more than 600,000 hectares – this corresponds to about a third of the area of Rhineland-Palatinate. In some of the areas affected by the devastating bush fires, the temperatures reached 44 degrees, and wind speeds of 90 kilometers per hour were recorded.
