JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin is considered to have no selling points to be promoted as a presidential candidate (candidate).
Director of the Nusakom Pratama Political Studies Institute, Ari Junaedi, said that the figure of Cak Imin was not attractive to be supported as a presidential candidate by other political parties.
“Cak Imin’s struggle to become a potential presidential candidate is very difficult because the political market in the country does not see a high political selling point,” said Ari to Kompas.comMonday (13/6/2022).
“So it is natural that political parties other than PKB do not make Cak Imin a sexy figure on the national political stage,” he said.

He revealed two factors that underlie his statement. First, the low electability of Cak Imin compared to other candidates for president.
Based on the poll conducted by the Poltracking Indonesia survey agency released Thursday (9/6/2022), Cak Imin’s electability was ranked 12th with a simulation of 18 names of presidential candidates.
He only obtained electability of 0.6 percent.
“The top (electability) candidates for presidential and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) from the survey results from various institutions almost all place Cak Imin outside the top 5 of the names Ganjar Pranowo, Prabowo Subianto, Anies Baswedan, Sandiaga Uno and AHY (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, ” he said.
Second, Cak Imin has never served as a regional head.

In Ari’s view, the public often chooses a figure who has a track record as a regional head because his leadership can be traced.
“Cak Imin is indeed a proven politician because of his subscription to Senayan, but he has never served as a regent or governor,” he said.
This also underlies the high electability of Ganjar and Anies. Also, the success of President Joko Widodo.
“The election of Jokowi as President cannot be separated from the public’s memory of his success in leading Solo and DKI Jakarta. Likewise with Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo,” he concluded.

It was reported that Cak Imin continued to communicate with various political parties to offer themselves as candidates for presidential and vice presidential candidates.
He also hopes to propose to the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani to accompany him as a vice presidential candidate if he runs as a presidential candidate.
On the other hand, Cak Imin admitted that the discourse on a coalition with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has yet to be confirmed.
Currently his party and PKS are still in the exploratory stage to be able to work together.
