CDC: 94 Percent of Deaths Due to Covid-19 in the US Accompanied by Other Diseases

TEMPO.CO, Washington – Only six percent of deaths from Covid-19 in the United States (US) were caused by the outbreak as a single disease, while 94 percent of the other patients who died from Covid-19 had other underlying conditions.

This was revealed in the latest report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“For six percent of deaths, Covid-19 is the single cause,” the CDC said on its website. “For deaths with conditions or causes other than Covid-19, there were an average of 2.6 additional conditions or cases per death.”

The CDC lists the diseases as the top underlying medical conditions associated with death from the coronavirus, including influenza and pneumonia, respiratory failure, hypertension, diabetes, vascular and unspecified dementia, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, intentional and involuntary injuries. .

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the US crossed the six million mark on Monday, August 31, 2020, with the national death toll reaching more than 183,300, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
