Chartres: the Lucéen suspected of stabbing a man after a football match is tried for attempted murder in front of the Assises

The mystery still hangs, after more than two years of investigation. Why Ahy Kegba, a Lucéen aged 33 today, is involved in this story of stabbing after a football match. He is suspected of having injured one of the players.

The accused claims to have first been assaulted by the victim, on the evening of June 22, 2019, in the clubhouse of the James-Delarue stadium in Chartres. That day, the scene takes place at the end of an amateur football tournament.

After the match, the alleged victim, his 3-year-old daughter in her arms, heads for the locker room. According to several accounts, he is followed by a man, very quickly identified as Ahy Kegba, who rushes after him into the clubhouse.

“He took a knife out of his pocket and gave me several blows in the stomach,” the victim told investigators. Her 3-year-old daughter was reportedly slightly injured in the thigh.

According to the protagonists, the assault took place against the backdrop of an old romantic rivalry. The attacker accusing his victim of having tried to seduce his partner six years ago, which the victim has always denied.

“I will finish you”

The thesis of self-defense also seems to be undermined by the witnesses, who saw the victim come out of the clubhouse in blood, followed by Ahy Kegba, beside himself, who would have assured that he “was going to finish him”.

The accused is tried from Tuesday morning for attempted murder on his rival and violence with a weapon on the little girl. He risks thirty years of criminal imprisonment.

The verdict is expected Wednesday evening.
