Chasing the title alone with a slow motorbike, Fabio Quartararo deserves to be called a dark horse

Monster Energy Yamaha racer, Fabio Quartararo, faces a huge challenge to defend his title in the 2022 MotoGP season.

BOLASPORT.COM – The status as the defending champion and the fact that he is at the top of the standings do not make Monster Energy Yamaha racer, Fabio Quartararo, the most favorite. The big challenge that awaits him is considered more deserving of the status of a dark horse.

“Yamaha are in a very good situation because last year won and this year top of the table, but, in my opinion, their situation is very similar to Marc and Honda in the last six years.”

That’s Andrea Dovizioso’s testimony about his last manufacturer’s gait before hanging up his helmet from MotoGP this season.

Yamaha took the same path as its rivals when they relied on just one strong rider to compete in the race for the world title.

In the last two seasons, it can be said that only Fabio Quartararo has consistently been in the front position from race to race.

He proved his quality as an above-average rider with the title in 2020 and is still top of the table as the rest of the M1 stumbles behind.

Quartararo’s situation is almost like Marquez’s in 2018 and 2019 when he raced alone against a rival who had a superior bike.

“Top speed, acceleration and rear tire grip,” said Quartararo about Yamaha’s shortcomings compared to Ducati and Aprilia, quoted by from GPOne.

“However, I prefer not to talk about it. It is important for us to stay focused because there are some negative aspects that cannot be improved this season.”
