Manchester United have a problem in their search for Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as Chelsea have also joined the race for him.
Osimhen is on fire with Napoli this season, as he leads the Serie A top scorer chart, with his club at the top of the table. The Nigerian has often been hampered by injury problems but he has put that behind him in this campaign to become one of the most prolific players in Europe. As a result, Osimhen is attracting a lot of interest, and now Chelsea will be competing with clubs like Manchester United and PSG for his signature.
Manchester United are in the hunt for a number nine and have been linked with a slew of players in recent times for a summer transfer. The likes of Harry Kane and Benjamin Sesko have been linked with the club of late, but Osimhen is also a top target for the job, given his form this season. Chelsea are now reportedly ready to enter the race as their own goalscoring issues are a concern, according to the Mirror.
Chelsea in the race for Osimhen
Graham Potter’s side haven’t had a real bang, despite the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joao Felix, and will look to fix that. The Blues haven’t been shy about splashing the big bucks this season, as they’ve completed mega deals for the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Wesley Fofana and others, and Osimhen could be next. Osimhen could be paid over €120m as Napoli are known to be a tough negotiator and he is one of their top talents, performing at a very high level. Apart from the two Premier League clubs, PSG are also keeping tabs on the striker.
