Playful and recreational training game (7 against 7) by G.POTTER – CHELSEA FC.
As you can read in the title, we are going to see with you a recreational training game. The English club of Chelsea Fc used this content at the end of 2022 with his new coach, Graham Potter. At the end of the article, you will discover 2 developments. Namely that it is suitable for a novice group or an expert group.
In a space 60 meters wide and 80 meters deep, you organize a 7 against 7. 15 meters from the 2 ends of the playing space, you line up 9 to 12 pins. We invite you to look at the illustration below.
Blues are opposed to whites.
You can limit the touches of the ball but it is not an obligation. You are free to choose!
Each team must defend their pins and knock down their opponent’s pins with the ball.
As soon as a player knocks down a pin, he must retrieve it and line it up with the other pins on his team.
At the end of the sequence, the team with the most pins to defend wins!
Attention, even if the team has knocked down a pin, it can keep possession to knock down a 2nd one in a row.
On the illustration below, we can see that the blues have knocked down 3 pins from the opponent. They will have to defend them!
Note : If you want to make the game more complex at the technical-tactical level, you will have to knock down a pin in 1 touch.
In this type of content, it is easy to modify it and thus surprise your players. We will see two variants. The first is similar to the original game. The second variant is played with 3 teams.
Variant No. 1 – The object of the game and the rules are similar to the original game (6 against 6). Simply, it is the position of the pins that will change. Indeed, they are now positioned at an angle. This allows you to change the direction of the game. You can increase or reduce the number of pins to defend and attack.
Variant No. 2 – This situation will be played with 3 teams. Blues are opposed to whites. Each team defends its pins and attacks the opponent’s pins. And like the previous content, after touching a pin, the player must bring it back and position it next to the other pins that he is defending with his partners. After recovering the ball in play or in a dead situation, it is mandatory to go through a player from the 3rd team before attacking. The 3rd team is positioned on the sides of the field (see illustration). She always plays with the team in possession of the ball.
Preferably, they should offer this playful game after a short start. It will serve as an introduction to your session. Players will easily adhere to this game which will require quality in play and precision in finishing. To maintain intensity and competitiveness, favor short work sequences (less than 8 minutes).
