BIRMINGHAM CITY could make a surprising move for Diego Costa, according to reports.
Former Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez is interested in investing in the Blues.
He is reportedly part of a consortium, along with Christian Codoma and Paul Richardson, looking to buy a stake in the club.
And if the takeover attempt is successful, it could open the door to big transfers.
Lopez, Codoma and Richardson are eager to revamp the current squad by creating a team with an effective mix of young and experienced players.
According to The Mirror, Lopez has already created a list of potential targets, with Costa included.
The former Chelsea striker is currently a free agent.
He terminated his contract with Atlético Mineiro earlier in the year, despite winning the domestic double.
Before his time with the Brazilian team, he spent three years at Atlético de Madrid.
And before returning to Spain, he enjoyed a successful season at Stamford Bridge.
