Chiellini’s moving farewell to the Turin public, after 17 seasons with the Old Lady

As Juve played their last home game of the season on Monday night against Lazio in Serie A, Giorgio Chiellini bade farewell to the public. The 37-year-old defender left the stadium to a standing ovation in the 17th minute, like the number of seasons played with the Turin club.

Giorgio Chiellini joined the team in 2004 from Livorno but only started there a year later, after spending the first season on loan at Fiorentina (2004-2005). He then became a monument of the club and of Italian football.

But the defender is not going to put an end to his career. He will play his last game with the national team on June 1, before perhaps launching a final challenge in MLS. For the final game of the season, Juve will travel to Fiorentina on Sunday (3 p.m.).
