To celebrate the upcoming 10th anniversary of the commissioning of the country’s first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, China Central Television (CCTV) announced on Friday that the Fujian is carrying out its tests as scheduled.

With a displacement of more than 80,000 tons, the Fujian is the largest and most complex warship developed in China, with advanced electromagnetic catapults, technology that only the United States has put into service with the USS Gerald R. Ford.

The aircraft carrier was unveiled in Shanghai on June 17, and this latest announcement indicates that construction and testing are proceeding smoothly, a military expert who requested anonymity told the Global Times on Friday.

Equipment installation and calibration work is currently being carried out, which could shorten the time needed for this phase, said the expert, noting that the next stage of the plan is sea trials, which will probably begin next year. year.
