China’s Lockdown in the Capital of Xinjiang Triggers Findings of 17 Corona Cases

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region, China was declared closed or lockdown after at least 17 cases of corona virus infection were found.

The Urumqi Authority, the capital of Xinjiang with a population of 3.5 million, has canceled all flights in and out of Urumqi, Radio Free Asia reported, July 17, 2020.

Lockdown caused almost 90 percent of pilots to enter and exit the Diwopu Urumqi International Airport to be canceled. Public transportation has also been closed since last Friday.

Urumqi residents were ordered to stay in their homes. Shopping malls and hotels are also ordered to close.

They scramble to buy food and other important needs to anticipate lockdown.

The Urumqi authorities require visitors from outside the Xinjiang province to be quarantined for a week.

The flight passengers are required to show evidence of negative test results that are valid for 7 days. They must show a healthy status code in the application used to identify the virus carrier.

Urumqi officials made a regulation to prevent the spread of the corona virus.

Test results on a 24-year-old woman on Thursday showed positive results from being infected with the corona virus. This woman underwent a test after her body showed symptoms of pain.

Three of his friends also tested positive for corona virus, although they showed no symptoms.

A man who recently visited from Urumqi to Zhejiang province was also found to be infected with the corona virus.

“Private cars aren’t allowed anywhere now,” said a police officer.

So far the corona outbreak in Xinjiang has recorded 77 cases of infection and 3 people have died.
