The Japanese coast guard said that four Chinese coast guard vessels, including the vessel with the gun, were detected in the waters of the uninhabited island — Senkaku — which Tokyo controls and which is claimed by Beijing.
The incident comes days after the leaders of the two Asian powers held their first high-level meeting since 2019.
