"We signed a secrecy and it was said that you can not tell your mother, but that's it," Chip quipped after Fallon asked if the pair would ever return to television. "So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we're coming back to TV. You'll see the kids grow up, you'll see us, maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world, but we're happy to be back. "

Magnolia spokesman John Marsicano also confirmed the news in an exclusive statement for PEOPLE: "We are pleased to announce that we are in the early stages of discussing Discovery with a lifestyle-oriented media network for Magnolia. The details of this opportunity are still a work, but together we want to create a different platform for unique, inspiring and family-friendly content. "

In partnership with Discovery Inc., which includes HGTV, the new network will be the latest addition to Chip and Joanna's massive list of successful companies, including their lifestyle magazine The Magnolia Journal (released by Meredith, the parent company of PEOPLE), the new Magnolia Table Restaurant and its product line at Target, and the ever expanding Magnolia store in silos that has made Waco, Texas a destination.
They have dozens of other projects, from vacation homes to memoirs, cookbooks, and Joanna's latest design book Homebody: A guide to creating places you never want to leave.
The news is a happy surprise for Fixer Upper Fans who had hoped the pair would eventually return to the small screen after announcing their successful HGTV series in September 2017 to focus on family and their businesses. The show was aired in April 2018.
"The show was great and we are very grateful for it, but it's also a whirlwind that will make you go flat if you're not careful," Chip told PEOPLE in October. "You can not believe how much gas you have." Nevertheless, they never wrote the opportunity to return. "We never exclude anything and we are the creators. We love to live life to the fullest, and sometimes the journey is unexpected, to say the least. "

While exactly how much chip and Joanna are in front of the camera, everyone is excited about the new company.
"The Gaineses are extraordinary people, true-to-life storytellers and creative visionaries who provide millions of people with quality, family-friendly programs accessible through a 24/7 network and across all screens," said Discovery spokesman David Leavy PEOPLE in a statement. "Stay tuned … work out the final details … more to come soon!"
