The new owners of the iconic Chrysler Building didn’t want the building in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Which is a shame, given that it is also very common in Marvel comics and movies.
The Chrysler Building has been removed from Spider-Man: Miles Morales due to copyright. Game Informer reports that.
The building is still present in Marvel’s Spider-Man from 2018, but since the Chrysler has been sold to Australian Signa Group and RFR Holding LCC in 2019. from New York, the building has disappeared in Miles Morales – which is also set in Manhattan. While the Chrysler Building can still be seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, the building has been replaced there by a generic skyscraper.
Most likely this has to do with copyright. As in the Netherlands, the artistic aspects of architecture are legally protected, so owners can refuse to use them in media. However, no official reason has been given.
The Chrysler Building features prominently in Marvel media. For example, it has appeared in a host of comics, the most recent Spider-Man movie and three of the four Avengers movies.
