DIn 1977, the White House was made aware of “the possibility of catastrophic climate change” related to CO2 emissions.2according to an archive unearthed by The Guardian, described by the British newspaper as “the memo that should have changed the world”. Stamped “as seen by President” Jimmy Carter, it was written by his scientific and technological adviser Frank Press and lists in one page the foreseeable consequences, which for the most part have materialized in the meantime, of global warming.
