Cologne: Big effort at the Aachener Weiher – first aiders disabled and officials pelted with bottles

Cologne –

Again violence in action at the Aachener Weiher: In the night from Saturday to Sunday there was a large police operation in the Hiroshima-Nagasaki-Park at the Aachener Weiher. More than 80 officers were on site to help a patrol car crew that was being pelted with bottles.

Rescue prevented at first

At around 1:40 a.m., a 24-year-old caller had told the control center that he had been prevented from turning a helpless woman lying in the park on her side. Because the bottles were thrown, the local police officers were initially unable to get out of the car to help the woman.

Rescue workers were only able to get to the woman when the reinforcements arrived and the lights were switched on. The police were unable to provide any information about the woman’s health.

20 year olds taken into custody

At 2:30 a.m., the police recognized a young man who had previously thrown a bottle at full force at the patrol car and took him into custody. It is a 20 year old Spaniard registered in Mettmann. He has already appeared in numerous threats, bodily harm, drug and robbery offenses. (red)
