FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. (WSB / CNN) – A McDonald's worker became viral after a woman posted a picture of him sleeping in the restaurant.
Simon Childs, a single parent, said he had a hard time with his deceased mother. He said he received several job offers after the photo was shared on Facebook. (Source: WSB / CNN VAN)
What happened next surprised Simon Childs and thanked for the photo.
But the photo contains even more.
"I'm having a hard time with my mother behind me," said Childs.
Childs also has a newborn son.
"Every decision I make is for him," he said. "Everything I do, I want to work for it."
These are all things you would not know from a single picture of the 21-year-old kids.
"It kinda hurt to see my picture up there, you know," he said.
One McDonald's customer took a picture of Childs sleeping between shifts on Friday at the Fayetteville restaurant and posted it on Facebook.
She wrote that it was another reason for her to "leave Fayetteville."
"I thought it was something negative and nobody would care," said Childs.
But he was positively shocked when he returned to work and saw piles of donated diapers for his son, supplies and clothing.
"They changed my life in a few days," he said.
"It touched our hearts," said Xavier Thomas, who owns the Fusion Chefs Eatery with Theo Thomas.
Their new restaurant gave them the opportunity to reach Childs and hire him a car for job interviews.
"In any case, let him get around to give him a better opportunity," said Thomas.
Childs said he has no ill will towards the woman behind the Facebook post.
"I'm not homeless, not now, thanks to her," he said.
He's looking forward to getting back on his feet – in new light pink shoes – donated to him in just the right size.
"I did not think the community would mind doing that, but it does interest them," he said.
Childs realizes he has been offered vacancies for his viral fame.
He said he was excited to possibly get a permanent home for him and his son.
