Melbourne ∙ After a gap of two years, the Onam celebrations at the Hungarian Hall in Melbourne were a unique experience. This year’s Onam celebration was different due to the presence of about a thousand Canaanite children and colorful art performances.
Bijo Mulakkal welcomed the Onam celebration programs under the chairmanship of Reggie Thomas Monipally, president of the association. Fr. Prince Thaipurayadam, Fr. James Arichira delivered the blessing speech. Trissa Sajan offered greetings. Soni Poozhikunnel thanked everyone. The mega Thiruvathira, which was organized by all the women of the association, was a huge success.
Similarly, a fierce tug-of-war competition and a fire-filled chendamela added to the Onam celebrations. Children’s trickery on stage, cool dance by KCYL women and youth, cinematic dance by women, and a play on geese enthralled the audience.
Thiruvona Sadya of Sabish’s Flavor Age Catering, a member of the association, treated everyone to Ruchikoot. The association’s president, Reggie Thomas Monipally, led the Onam celebrations in a way that the committee members could be proud of. Shaji who broke the stage as Maveli deserves special appreciation.
