More freedom for people who have been fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid disease – this will apply in Bavaria from the day after tomorrow (May 6). Specifically, the nocturnal curfew and the applicable contact restrictions are no longer applicable for this group. They are therefore no longer included in the number of maximum permitted contact persons. Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) announced these innovations after a cabinet meeting in Munich.
Söder emphasized that these are fundamental rights. The state government decided to put the regulation into effect this Thursday, two days before the federal government. They also want to send a signal that vaccination is important. “We are firmly convinced that with such progress the protection of fundamental rights outweighs the freedom of the individual,” said the Prime Minister. At lunchtime, the Federal Cabinet in Berlin also brought relief for those vaccinated against corona and those who have been proven to have recovered, now the Bundestag and Bundesrat still have to approve the regulation.
Even now there is no compulsory test for vaccinated people
People who have been completely vaccinated against Corona in Bavaria are already exempt from the obligation to test for retailers. This also applies to the quarantine obligation after returning from risk areas. According to today’s cabinet decision, the mask requirement and distance requirement will initially also apply to vaccinated and convalescent people. According to Söder, there is no discussion of the option of deciding on relief for those who have been vaccinated after just one injection if two vaccinations are required.
The Prime Minister spoke of “illuminating news” with a view to Corona. The trend in the corona numbers in Bavaria is continuing to fall, and the situation in intensive care beds is also stable. Söder also referred to expanded testing options and the growing number of vaccinations. Nevertheless, the third corona wave has not yet broken. “I wouldn’t say it’s under control,” Söder emphasized.
More classes in primary schools from Monday
As expected, the cabinet also decided that the elementary schools and the 5th and 6th grades of the special needs schools can offer alternating lessons from Monday up to the incidence value 165.
At the secondary schools in Bavaria, however, the previous limit of 100 for distance teaching will remain until the Whitsun holidays. The limit value 165 will only apply there from June 7th, as provided for in the federal emergency brake. Exceptions also apply to final grades and fourth graders, who have alternate lessons even with higher numbers.
Holetschek: Soon a million second vaccinations
According to Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU), one million people in Bavaria will soon be fully vaccinated. For a large part of this group, among other things, the night curfew will no longer apply as of Thursday. This applies to all people who have been fully vaccinated for at least 15 days.
For those who are not fully vaccinated, the contact and exit restrictions will continue to apply until at least 6 June – as before, depending on the incidence value on site.
In addition, the cabinet has decided to further relax: From Monday, services that are close to the body are again permitted with mandatory testing and a booked appointment with an incidence value below 100 – including visits to cosmetic studios. The same goes for dog schools.
