Figures from the RKI
Corona incidence increases slightly – A Saar district leads the values by far

The number of new infections is rising again slightly. This applies to Saarland and Germany. There are more deaths related to the Corona virus. The RKI information on the incidence in detail.

The corona incidence in Saarland is increasing. On Saturday, January 28th, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports an incidence of 75 for Saarland. This is below the figures for the federal government (81.5). There were 93 new infections with the corona virus in Saarland. In total, the RKI has counted 483,820 confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.

There were four more deaths related to the coronavirus. The total number of people who died from or with the virus is 2075.

Late reports distort the current overall picture

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since many federal states do not transmit them to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.

Corona numbers for Germany

The RKI gives the nationwide seven-day incidence at 81.5. This emerges from figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:10 a.m. Most recently, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was 78.5.

The health authorities in Germany recently reported 113,317 new corona infections and 127 deaths within one day to the RKI. Here, too, comparisons of the data are only possible to a limited extent due to the test behavior, late registrations or transmission problems.

The RKI has counted 37,739,472 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
