Corona protection concept for the Olympic Winter Games

100 days before the start of the Winter Olympics, the number of corona cases increases in the north of the country. The government is planning a radical protection concept for the major event.

After new corona cases in the Chinese province of Gansu, all tourist locations there were closed.

Regardless of whether athletes, supervisors, officials or media professionals: anyone traveling to the Winter Olympics in China in February will only be able to move around in what is known as a “closed ring”. There will be three such rings, in which the competitions will be held: the city of Zhangjiakou, the main venue northwest of Beijing, an area a little outside the capital near the Great Wall and the Olympic site in northern Beijing. The 2008 Summer Games competitions have already taken place there. The organizers want to ensure that no contact with people outside the individual bubbles is possible.
