UPDATED President of the Republic approved mandatory use of a mask for 70 days
The number of active cases of Covid-19 in the municipality of Castelo Branco decreased this Monday compared to Sunday, now standing at 174, minus seven.
The figures were released by the clinical director of the Castelo Branco Local Health Unit on Monday night.
In Idanha-a-Nova the number of active infections remains at 100 and in Vila Velha de Ródão there are three new active cases, rising to eight.
In the remaining municipalities in the ULSCB area, there were no changes in 24 hours, with eight cases remaining in Penamacor and Sertã, nine in Proença-a-Nova and two in Vila de Rei
Potter remains without active cases.
The President of the Republic enacted this Monday the mandatory use of a mask on the street, which will be valid for 70 days and for people from 10 years old whenever it is not possible to maintain physical distance.
People from the same household do not need to wear a mask being together, as long as there is no contact with third parties.
The Directorate-General for Health recorded in the last week 147 new cases of infection by Covid-19 in the municipalities of the district of Castelo Branco.
The numbers are part of the report by municipalities which is updated weekly on Mondays, but do not yet reflect the evolution in some municipalities, especially in Idanha-a-Nova and Belmonte, where there are currently outbreaks in their respective mercies.
According to the DGS bulletin, the municipality of Castelo Branco is the district with the highest number of infection cases, with 144 confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic, 35 more than last week.
Then follow Covilhã with 65 cases (26 more) and Fundão with 50 (12 more).
Idanha-a-Nova has on the DGS list 36 cases since the beginning of the pandeia, 20 more than a week ago, but this number is by default, since on Sunday the Castelo Branco Local Health Unit confirmed to Reconquista the existence 100 active cases, that is, not counting those who fell ill since the beginning of the pandemic.
The same is true in Belmonte, where DGS confirms 43 cases of infection (37 more than a week ago) when only Misericórdia confirmed 63 infected people, the majority of whom are users.
The municipality of Penamacor has 26 cases on this list (plus six), Oleiros 17 (same as last week) to Sertã 15 (plus one), Vila Velha de Ródão 14 (plus five), Proença-a-Nova 10 (plus two) and Vila de Rei three cases, entering the official list of the DGS where only from this level it becomes part.
DGS clarifies, as it has done since the beginning of the pandemic, that the information presented refers to the total of medical notifications in the system, not including laboratory notifications.
“As such, it may not correspond to all cases per municipality”, says the institution.
The University Hospital Center of Cova da Beira, which serves the north of the district, announced this Monday that “in the face of the significant increase in patients” with the new coronavirus in the region “readjusted the hospital response to the current situation, reactivating the contingency plan treatment for infection with the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and increasing the number of beds for these patients “.
This Monday, nine positive patients were hospitalized and 11 positive employees were in home confinement.
