Covid, goodbye to the vaccination hub at the Fiera but there is a new headquarters: it is the Castelnuovo institute

Goodbye to the vaccination hub of the Mediterranean Fair. But there is already a new structure intended to house the health workers for anti-Covid inoculations in Palermo: it is the Istituto Principe di Castelnuovo, a body supervised by the regional councilorship of the family, social policies and work. The premises were identified during a meeting between the councilor for the family, Nuccia Albano, and the commissioner for the Covid emergency, Renato Costa, delegated by the councilor for health, Giovanna Volo.

The pavilions of the Mediterranean Fair will be vacated in the coming weeks and thus the problem of finding a suitable place to host the vaccinations arose. The choice fell on the Institute in viale del Fante 66. “We are starting all the procedures necessary to urgently activate the new structure”, affirm Albano and Volo.

“Excellent news for Sicilian health care and for the Palermitans”, declares Domenico Bonanno, DC group leader in the city council. “Now – adds Bonanno – it will be necessary to start the process to activate the new structure urgently as soon as possible. It is a significant result that fuels hope and expectations for the stabilization of precarious workers. The next step will, in fact, be give employment certainty to those who have been at the forefront of the fight against Covid in recent years”.
