Covid in Piedmont schools, 80 outbreaks and 250 quarantined classes in the week of 15-21 November 2021

From the monitoring conducted by the Piedmont Region, in the week of November 15-21, the contagion situation in schools records an increase in outbreaks (from 45 the previous week to 80) and quarantines (from 234 to 250). “In line with the general trend of the pandemic, but always to a very limited extent compared to all the school classes present in the Piedmont area”, specify the Region.

Outbreaks and quarantines: the numbers

The outbreaks increased from 45 to 80. Below is the breakdown on a provincial basis: 12 Alessandria, 5 Asti, 10 Cuneo, 9 Novara, 5 Vercelli, 8 Turin city, 29 Turin metropolitan city, 1 Biella, 1 VCO.

The quarantined classes went from 234 to 250. Divided on a provincial basis, the quarantined classes are: 12 in the Alessandria area, 12 in the Asti area, 6 in the Biellese area, 32 in the Cuneo area, 24 in the Novara area, 49 Turin city (1 nursery, 4 nursery schools, 10 primary schools, 15 middle schools, 19 high schools), 97 Turin metropolitan city, 12 in the Vercelli area, 6 in the VCO.

The data on the incidence of contagion among young people

The weekly increase of new covid cases per 100,000 in the specific age group among the youngest, in the week from 15 to 21 November, results: in the 14-18 age group there are 84.9 cases; there are 162.2 cases in the 11-13 year-old group; in the 6-10 year range the cases are 220.1; in the 3-5 year range they are 90.9; in the 0-2 year range they are 57.1.

The participation of students aged 12-19 to the vaccination is over 73% of the overall audience in this age group.
