Cristian Molinero needs help to undergo surgery and save his left arm

The serious injuries suffered in a traffic accident left him in a wheelchair and with a paralyzed arm, he went through 58 days of hospitalization, different operations on his legs, but Cristian Molinero (37) does not give up and bets on his recovery with the hope of being able to return to work as a construction painter and bricklayer.

Today he needs the help of the entire community to be able to undergo a surgical intervention that will allow him to regain mobility in his left arm, which was paralyzed due to the injury to the brachial plexus nerve. It is important that the operation is performed as soon as possible as as time passes, your chances of regaining mobility of your arm decrease.

For this reason, together with his wife Paola Monesterolo, his family and the solidarity organization “Paso a Paso”, he faced a series of activities to raise the necessary funds for the operation that costs more than 750 thousand pesos. To help him, they opened two bank accounts in which those who wish can deposit their donation and will also place ballot boxes in different businesses in the city to also receive the contributions.

His life turned upside down on August 4 when he starred in a serious crash on Brigadier Bustos Avenue (Interprovincial Road) and Suipacha Street in which another man died. Cristian was hospitalized for almost two months at the “JB Iturraspe” Hospital and now he is well, he still cannot walk and is undergoing rehabilitation to regain his leg movements.

He said he needs to have surgery on the brachial plexus nerve as soon as possible to move his arm again. “I have to have surgery in Buenos Aires because it is the only place in the country where there is technology and specialized professionals to perform brachial plexus surgery”, said.

He added that the operation could be done in a public hospital, at no cost, “But to be able to recover the nerve, the intervention must be carried out within the first six months of the injury. Three and a half months have passed since the accident and I have only two and a half months left, in the public hospital there is great demand and for the Priorities will surely take longer than six months. At the clinic times are shortened a lot, so I decided to do it there. “

He affirmed that after the operation “a long road of recovery awaits me of more than a year to recover the movements that will never be 100 percent. The total amount of the surgery that includes hospitalization, doctors and supplies, is 750 thousand pesos Dr. Mariano Socolovsky, a renowned neurosurgeon who trained abroad, will operate on me “.

With the operation, the road to a recovery begins, which Cristian hopes will be good and will allow him to return to work. “I am 37 years old and I have a long time to work, continue to be a taxpayer and not end up being an expense for the State, so I want to do everything necessary to be able to recover, I want to be active again,” he said.

Serious injuries

In the accident, he suffered a brachial plexus nerve injury that caused total paralysis in his left arm, he also had an exposed femur fracture, broken clavicle, shoulder blade, two ribs, a lung was perforated, suffered serious trauma to his left foot that was reconstructed by the Hospital doctors since the first reports indicated that it should be amputated.

“I still have nails and an open wound on my left foot and when I can step on I have to face another rehabilitation process,” he said. “My left foot was practically cut in half in the crash, bones and tendons were lost, but it is evolving, We’ll see later if I can step on it again. “

From the solidarity organization “Paso a Paso”, Silvia Whindolz, who is accompanying Cristian in his campaign, affirmed that collaboration is important to help Cristian. “He wants to work and if we don’t hurry he loses an arm,” he said.

He summoned the community to approach the association. “Many in these cases do not know whether to ask for help and it is essential that they come closer, we are here to fulfill what the State does not comply with.”

Cristian will need help for a long time to achieve his recovery since he does constant rehabilitation and does not have social work or transport coverage, so later on they will organize a bingo and other activities to continue raising funds.
