Cristiano Ronaldo described Manchester United as an “amateur” club in a phone call with journalist Piers Morgan.
The Portuguese shocked the football world last week when he sat down with the presenter of TalkTV for unrestrained conversation.
During the interview, the superstar launched a sensational attack on several key figures at Man Utd, including manager Erik ten Hag and The Glazers, the English club’s ownership group.
Ronaldo claimed that he had been betrayed by key figures at Man Utd and that Ten Hag and others were trying to remove him from the club. In addition, he criticized former caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick and club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
Morgan claimed that, earlier this year, Cristiano told him in a phone call that he regretted returning to Man Utd in the summer of 2021. and the 37-year-old even called United an “amateur” club.
In his column of TimesMorgan detailed what the six-time Ballon d’Or winner told him in the phone call: “His dream comeback just eight months earlier had turned into a nightmare and for an hour he passionately articulated all the problems he believed were behind it.
“‘I can’t keep ignoring what is happening inside the club right now,’ he told me.
“’It’s so amateur. No defined goal, no leadership, no organization, just a desert of ideas. The future is very dark unless things change very quickly.’ I asked her if she regretted coming back and she sighed: ‘Perhaps my heart spoke louder than reason’.”
These comments will only further fuel the fires burning in the Ronaldo vs. Man Utd feud.
It now seems almost certain that Ronaldo will not play for the Red Devils ever again, and his contract termination next month seems like the most likely conclusion to this episode.
