Cristiano Ronaldo sells his private jet due to high maintenance costs,

The European press reported that the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo began the procedures to sell his private jet, a luxurious Gulstream G-200 plane valued at almost 22 million dollars.

As reported by the news site Mundo Deportivo, the figure and the buyer are not yet known, but it is estimated that it must be a Cristiano fan. The plane, which the Saudi Arabian Al-Nassr forward bought in 2015, has images of CR7 celebrating a goal plotted on both sides.

The rumors about the sale of Cristiano’s private jet are not new. Years ago, when the forward went from Real Madrid to Juventus, this possibility was also mentioned. But the appearance of photos of Georgina Rodríguez, the player’s wife, occupying the aircraft deactivated that version.

The reason for the sale

According to the aforementioned Spanish media, Cristiano decided to sell the private jet due to its high maintenance costs. The use of the aircraft requires the hiring of three captains and two flight attendants. Lately, Cristiano and his family have not been using this plane as much, which is why it was absurd to keep it stopped at an airport.

In recent years, a company was dedicated to renting it. His clients were other important soccer players or businessmen who were willing to pay between 6,000 and 20,000 dollars per trip, depending on the distance to be covered.

The Gulstream G-200 has a capacity for ten people, not including the crew. It has a microwave, electric oven, refrigerator and even a TV room with Wi-fi to rest during the trip. The jet reaches a speed of 900 kilometers per hour. It was used by Cristiano Ronaldo’s family when the footballer had to travel to Portugal to meet commitments with his national team or when he had to travel to a gala such as the Ballon d’Or award ceremony.

Christian looks for another jet

But Cristiano Ronaldo will not give up having his own private jet. What’s more, the Portuguese soccer player is looking for a bigger one.

One of the sources consulted by Mundo Deportivo assured that the main reason that led him to sell the Gulstream G-200 was the lack of space.

If there is something that CR7 does not lack, it is money: the attacker recently signed a contract with Al-Nassr until 2025 for 200 million euros (218 million dollars) per season. In addition, after his sports retirement, he has the possibility of extending the link with the Saudis as a sports advisor until 2030.
