The Honduran youth team had to come from below to beat Cuba with a 3-1 scoreboard on the third date of the Concacaf Under 20 World Championship played in La Florida, United States. In this way the Hondurans reach nine points and are practically classified to the next phase of this tournament that gives four places to the World Championship in Poland-2019.
The cubanitos took control in the first five minutes of the match but quickly the catrachos showed the best trade of their men on the rectangle. At the 10th minute shot of Everson and slap outside goalkeeper Echeverría, Cristian Cálix's 14th shot and Villafranca finished on the outside, at the 22th goal of the Cuban goal, sending Corners another header from Villafranca.
But at the minute the first goal of the match comes and Cuba scores through Rolando Oviedo that surprises the blue rearguard.
Joy lasts little. Four minutes later the 1-1 came through Cristian Cálix to go to the rest on equal terms. Cuba fights but Honduras knows how to control the attacks.
Beginning the complementary stage the Hondurans give entrance to the steering wheel Carlos Mejías and this puts in plots the Cuban cabin with a riflazo on the outside. Then error of the defense and the Cuban César Flores takes a bomb that is lost very close.
In 68 and 74 again Echeverría shines and first detains a shot of Darwin Diego and then a direct punishment charged by Carlos Mejía. Before 69 Yandri Romero fails 2-1 for Cubans.
In general, Cuba has dominated the second part but the lack of a bad definition has blocked the way.
At the 84th minute, the 2-1 advantage for Honduras came when César Mejía batted with a left-footed shot from goalkeeper Echeverría. The puntilla appeared in the 92 by a counterattack that culminated Luis Palma in a hand to hand with the goalkeeper.
