Cuban President tours the Steel Antilles

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez visited this Thursday the Antillean Steel industry, where one of the most important investment processes in the country is carried out. Based on a Russian government credit of more than 100 million dollars, this place known as a “factory of factories” is being modernized, the president reported on his Twitter and Presidencia Cuba social network account.

“Today we remembered the visit in 2018 to Antillana de Acero. The deterioration was remarkable. This morning we woke up there and the change is complete. It is one of the most important investments in the country, based on a Russian credit. It goes very well. Soon the Antillean will be contributing to the economy”, relieved the president.

About to start up the Electric Steel Workshop, the heart of the Antilles, the president toured the place where the modernity of the equipment is palpable, after years of deterioration. Billets for export and domestic consumption will come from here.

According to the Presidency Cuba, a second stage of the investment, aimed at the 250 Rolling Mill of the plant, should be completed by the end of 2024. With the commissioning of the new furnace in the coming days, La Antillana de Acero will begin to improve economic indicators and with this the payment to their workers, referred to his Twitter account.

He added that Díaz-Canel highlighted the importance of this steel mill for the recovery of the Cuban economy. He said that after the last visit to Russia, some processes that had paralyzed the investment approved in 2017 have been unlocked and today it is in an excellent moment.
