Customers Lose IDR 110 Million at Jenius, This is BTPN’s Complete Explanation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Communications and Daya Head of Bank BTPN Andrie Darusman opened his voice on the case experienced by Theresia Avilia alias Riri as a Jenius customer. He said he would always help in this case.

“Jenius dari Bank BTPN tunduk pada prosedur dan ketentuan yang berlaku, serta senantiasa membantu nasabah apabila dibutuhkan dalam proses lebih lanjut,” kata Andrie saat dihubungi Tempo di Jakarta pada Senin, 19 Juli 2021.

Sebelumnya, Riri menerima telepon mengatasnamakan sebagai customer services Jenius Connect. Ia diinfokan oleh pelaku bahwa harus mengganti kartu debitnya karena merupakan kebijakan yang harus dilakukan secara berkala oleh nasabah. 

Setelah Riri mengikuti prosedur dari pelaku tersebut. Kini kehilangan uang tabungan depositonya sebesar Rp 110 juta. Padahal, uang tersebut untuk rencana pernikahan dan melanjutkan studinya.

Andrie deeply regrets what happened. The perpetrators managed to carry out their fraudulent actions to obtain confidential customer data information.

“Fraudsters have deceived customers so that customers provide confidential and personal information which is then misused by fraudsters to take over the customer’s Jenius account,” he said.

Andrie has not been able to ascertain what the fate of these large savings funds will be. For this incident, Bank BTPN reminded customers to be more careful and not to provide personal data to other parties, including Jenius BTPN.

These data include, password, e-mail, One Time Password (OTP), and data in applications and Jenius cards in any form, including unofficial links.

“At Jenius, customer security is our top priority in implementing a layered level of security with the latest technology. However, customers need to be aware that many individuals abuse the opportunity with various modes of crime. We realize that this is a joint effort for Jenius and customers to avoid unwanted things in the future,” said Andrie.
