In replacement of the old Sarthe Cycling Circuit appears in 2023 a new competition, the Pays de la Loire region Tour. As its name suggests, the race will cross the five departments of the region, and the route was unveiled on January 23 by the President of the Region, Christelle Morancais. From April 4 to 7, it’s an exciting race and mythical places that will be offered to runners and spectators.

Five departments, and a passage through the Bugatti circuit
The first department concerned by the race will be Loire-Atlantique, with a first stage which will link Saint-Nazaire to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, then Vendée, from Clisson to Lion-d’Angers, and Mayenne, from Baugé-en-Anjou to the town of the same name in the department. Finally, the competition will end in Sarthe, with a departure from Sablé-sur-Sarthe and an arrival at Le Mans, punctuated by a visit to the Bugatti circuit, an opportunity for the organizers to celebrate the centenary of the famous car race. As a reminder, the latest edition of Sarthe Cycling Circuitin 2022, was won by Olav Kooijin the jersey of the Jumbo Vismaafter two years of absence due to the Covid pandemic.

Tuesday April 4 – Step 1 : Saint-Nazaire – Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie
Wednesday April 5 – 2nd step : Clisson – The Lion-d’Angers
Thursday April 6 – step 3: Bauge-en-Anjou – Mayenne
Friday April 7 – stage 4: Sable-sur-Sarthe – Le Mans
