Čestmír Řanda smoked out of sadness

The cigarette was always his trademark. But he only started smoking after his father died by accident. Řanda reached for a cigarette out of sadness and nerves. A family curse called a heart attack

Čestmír Řanda Jr., who was an actor and scenographer, also died two years ago. According to the Blesk newspaper, he should have had major financial difficulties. But the stress from the accumulated debts did not take his life. Like his father, he had a massive heart attack. “Even that day he joked that he doesn’t go to the doctors and he’ll be haunting here for a long time,” said his friend Michaela Kryčfalušijová. The actor’s lifeless body was found by her daughter Claudia.

“At first she thought he was joking. For he had his hands folded and in the air,” added Michaela. However, the ambulance that was called was unable to help him even after twenty-five minutes of fighting for his life. Suicide was first speculated. Řanda the younger should have had an execution in the amount of one million crowns. He even ended up in prison for a while because of non-payment of alimony. But the autopsy proved the cause of death heart attack.
