A station wagon that is also a bit of an SUV, but also a multi-space that winks at a sedan. It is not a concept yet on paper but a more than concrete Dacia Jogger, which we tested with kilometers on the road and ‘special’ loads. The final sensation is a bit that of having tried different types of cars, all collected in a single car, not surprisingly indicated by the Renault Group car manufacturer as its ‘Swiss army knife’.
The Dacia Jogger 2022, that is the latest model to arrive in the Mioveni brand range, adopts the CMF-B platform of the Losanga group, which through a whole series of measures in the name of ‘concrete usefulness’, has allowed it to introduce itself to the public as a B segment car but with C segment dimensions, full of features that make it a multipurpose car – familiar yes, but also suitable for those who make a living between one sport and another or simply for those who transport everything with every move – and also has a line and design that you like.
The nose of the Jogger, which ANSA Motori tested in its limited ‘Xtreme’ version, faithfully follows the so-called ‘family feeling’ of the range, with part of the LED headlights (but the direction and dazzled indicators are halogen) and the grille with dynamic forms. The rear, to take advantage of every corner in terms of volumes, is instead more squared.
On the side, the line is consistent with another cornerstone of the Dacia range, that box-office Duster, amidst taut lines of the bodywork and muscular fenders. Another interesting trick is the one applied to the upper pillar, where, between the second and third side windows there is a step that allows additional light and space for the rear passengers.
Under the hood of ‘our’ Jogger under test, it beats a 1000cc turbo petrol engine, plus LPG, with 100 total horsepower and 170Nm of torque. The gearbox is a well-spaced and quite precise 6-speed manual. Power is certainly not the strong point of Jogger, even if in reality it is more than enough for daily use, even fun, the result of a low weight of 1250 kg. Comfort, on the other hand, is not bad at all, thanks to the 16 ″ with shoulder tires 60. Consumption in the city is about 8km / l (going on LPG), on the freeway at 110km / h it goes down and you can do 12km / l while at 130km / h it is around 10km /L.
Needless to say, the real strength of Jogger is the load capacity and the modularity of the spaces. The Dacia ‘Swiss Army knife’ can, first of all, accommodate up to seven passengers, with the addition of a third row of seats. On board there is space for everyone and above all for everything thanks to the 24 storage compartments, including the large drawer in front of the passenger, the two pockets in the doors (capable of accommodating bottles up to one liter), the central compartment underneath. to the armrest and many others missing in the cockpit, with 6 drink holders.
Its 2.90 meters of wheelbase offer a lot of interior space, a record considering the 4.55 meters in length, for the benefit of rear passengers. The second row of seats can be folded down in a 60:40 pattern or folded vertically to facilitate access to the last row of seats that can accommodate two passengers (perhaps no taller than 180 cm).
The trunk is a boundless space, starting from 160 liters with all seven seats upright, going up to 708 liters in the 5-seat configuration. The two extra seats can be folded down, freeing up additional space or completely removed. Without the third row of seats and folding the central bench, the Jogger has a maximum load compartment of up to 1,890 liters, with two meters in length and almost 1.60 meters of useful width.
All that remains is to load the Jogger, put bicycles and deck chairs in the trunk, and leave for the holidays.
