Dallas Mavericks sack 2020 second-round pick Tyrell Terry

The Dallas Mavericks finalized their roster after the preseason ended and fired three young talents. Both the former second round pick Tyrell Terry and Carlik Jones and Feron Hunt do not make it into the regular season squad.

The Mavs announced this in an official press release. Terry was the 31st pick in the 2020 draft, but only made eleven short appearances in his rookie season. The Guard missed part of the season for personal reasons and was not present during the preparation due to family issues.

In the 2020 draft Terry was considered one of the best shooters of the year, in Stanford he put on an average of 14.4 points with splits of 44/41/89 in his freshman year. His actual contract in Dallas ran for another two years and his salary of over $ 3.3 million is guaranteed. If no team takes him off the waiver list, the Mavs have to pay for it.

In addition to Terry, Jones and Hunt did not make it into the final Mavs roster. The two undrafted rookies wanted to prove themselves on an Exhibit 10 contract at the training camp. It is quite possible that they will play for the Mavs’ G-League team, the Texas Legends, in the future

After the three layoffs, the Mavs’ 15-man roster is complete, so Frank Ntilikina and Moses Brown have made the leap into the regular season team. In addition, the Mavs signed returnees Justin Jackson and EJ Onu late Friday evening local time, but both are likely to be for the G-League. Eugene Omoruyi and JaQuori McLaughlin are eligible to play in both the G-League and the NBA under a two-way contract.
