Along the Girondine coast, winter storms have already attacked certain beaches. With them comes the specter of erosion. But south of the Pilat dune, on the Salie-Nord beach, very popular with holidaymakers and surfers, a new reinforcement was installed Wednesday morning. On the wild beach, which is reached after a good walk in the forest, five skips filled with natural fir trees, Christmas remains, were transported by truck. Technicians from the ONF (National Forestry Office), supported by schoolchildren, students and some volunteers, spent part of the day storing the trees on the dune, in rows erected against the waves. During winter, the fir trees will serve as "Sand traps", sums up Cédric Bouchet, forestry technician at the NFB and observer of the Aquitaine coast. Other municipalities in the region have already experimented with the unusual system, with success, such as Capbreton or Ondres, in the Landes, or on the Ile de Ré.
