Kochi: The owners of the flat demolished as per the directions of the Supreme Court in Maradil have so far been paid Rs 91 crore as compensation. In addition to the interim compensation of Rs 62.75 crore paid by the state government, Rs 28.41 crore was paid by the three builders. The Supreme Court-appointed Justice K.S. Balakrishnan Nair informed the committee.

The full amount was refunded to the owners of the flats at Golden Baylor (37 flats – Rs 13.37 crore) and Jain Coral Cove (73 flats – Rs 32.16 crore). Of the Rs 32.10 crore owed to 76 flat owners in Alpha Serin, Rs 25.63 crore was repaid. Out of this `17.50 crore was provided by the State Government as interim compensation. 8.13 crore from Alpha Ventures. The remaining Rs 6.47 crore will be found by selling the office space in the Alpha Horizon building in Vallarpadam owned by the company.

Holy Faith Builders, the fourth builder, has not yet tied up any money. Holy Faith Builders owes Rs 42.15 crore, including Rs 20 crore to the state government and Rs 22.15 crore to flat owners. The Supreme Court had inquired about the possibility of finding this amount through revenue recovery. However, at present, the builder has assets worth only Rs 7.62 crore, according to the Collector. The Supreme Court will hear the case again on the 10th.
