Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – According to police, eleven officers were injured in a demonstration in Freiburg on Saturday. During the elevator, pyrotechnics had been burned down several times, and police officers were sprayed with a fire extinguisher, the police headquarters said. Previously, according to the information, around 900 people from the left-wing scene had gathered at 2 p.m. at the town hall in the Freiburg district of Stühlinger. They then walked through Haslach until the elevator ended at 5.10 p.m. at the Freiburg Concert Hall.
The registered demonstration had the motto “No attack without an answer”. According to a police spokesman, the trigger was clashes in the past between the left-wing scene and the AfD. According to the police headquarters in Freiburg, two of the injured officers came to the hospital for further treatment. Several suspects had been checked and an investigation was underway. “During the incident, the police had to use direct coercion in the form of pepper spray and baton,” it said.
